Chicken Sausage Meatballs
This recipe is a family favorite and a perfect dish for little hands to help with in the kitchen. Using chicken sausage keeps the ingredient list shorter without sacrificing flavor. Keeping the meatballs small allows quick cooking to get this meal on the table at right around 30 minutes.
Chicken Sausage Meatballs
Serves 4-6
Ingredients
- 1/2 c. Italian style breadcrumbs
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 lb bulk Italian chicken sausage
- 1/2 c. grated onion, optional
- 1 jar marinara
Instructions
- Measure milk into a measuring cup and add breadcrumbs. Stir to combine. (save a dish!)
- Bring marinara to a simmer over medium heat in a large, wide saute pan.
- Whisk the egg, Parmesan and salt. Add the breadcrumbs and sausage (and onion if using), gently mix with hands to combine. (This a great job for those little helper hands!)
- Form into small balls using about 1 tbsp per meatball.
- Drop the meatballs into the marinara so that they are not touching each other.
- Cover and simmer 20-30 minutes, until cooked through.
