Pear Crisp

This one takes more than 30 minutes but is worth the extra time. It can easily be done with *sub your favorite fruit here.* I always make these with a riff on a shortbread cookie for the crust. My favorite trick to make these just a little bit healthier is to use really ripe fruit because then you donโ€™t need to add any sugar to the fruit.

Pear Crisp

Serves 6-8

Ingredients

  • 6 very ripe pears, chopped
  • 1/2 c. rolled oats
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 c. butter, softened
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon, optional
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375F
  2. Spread chopped pears evenly in oven safe baking dish. Should be no more than a few pieces deep.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cinnamon and salt. Cut in butter. Mix in oats.
  4. Spread oat topping evenly over pears.
  5. Bake for approximately 25 minutes, until top is golden and edges are bubbling.
